EPA approves VinsBins to temporarily store asbestos on site
We are pleased to report that the Victorian EPA has granted VinsBins a licence that will allow for the temporary storage of non-friable asbestos waste materials in our site at Brasser Avenue, Dromana. This now gives us the ability to accept asbestos from household and construction sites and store it on site until we have a sufficient amount that warrants transporting it to an appropriate landfill site.
Asbestos was a common material used up until 1990 in the construction industry. Commonly it was used in the production of asbestos cement sheeting and piping, the manufacture of vinyl floor tiles, guttering, gables, eaves and carpet and tile underlays, to name just a few.
If you have asbestos on your property or are unsure if it is asbestos or not, EPA recommends you consult a professional removalist who has a WorkCover licence. Alternatively, you can bring a sample to our office and an experienced asbestos handler will be able to identify if asbestos is present in the fibres.
